YAM GUN CHIANG - Thailändischer Wurstsalat - Yak Thai

YAM GUN CHIANG - Thai sausage salad

Thai sausage salad

A sweet and spicy adventure for the palate - Made according to the original recipe

Have you ever tried a Thai sausage salad? If not, it's high time! We'd love to share the culinary intricacies of this special sausage salad with you, and we promise it won't take you longer than 15 minutes to prepare.

Yam Gun Chiang is one of our favorite Thai dishes. It's a traditional classic in Thailand and very popular with young and old. It's eaten there at any time of day—even for breakfast. It's a portion of deliciously aromatic pork sausage, which develops its sweet aroma particularly well when briefly stir-fried. Spicy ingredients like chilies and onions, combined with delicate, caramelly notes of brown sugar, give the salad its exceptional flavor.

Here we'll tell you how to easily and comfortably prepare this traditional salad at home. Eat it on its own or enjoy it with rice. For those who like it spicier, it's perfect.

Ingredients for 2 people:

200 g Gun Chiang sausage

10 small Thai chilies (you can use a little less if you like)

1 red onion

2 fresh coriander stalks

2 spring onions

2 tbsp lime juice

1 tbsp fish sauce

1 tbsp brown sugar

2 tbsp rapeseed oil

2–3 basil leaves for decoration

Preparation:

  1. Cut the sausage diagonally into thin slices.
  2. Cut all other ingredients into small pieces.
  3. Heat two tablespoons of oil in a pan over low heat.
  4. Add the sausage slices and increase the heat to medium. Depending on your preference, you can brown the sausage more or less. Once you're satisfied with the result, remove the sausage from the pan.
  5. Mix the brown sugar, fish sauce, and lime juice in a large bowl and add the fried sausage slices and all the other ingredients.
  6. Mix all the ingredients with the exotic dressing, decorate the dish with the basil leaves and the Yam Gun Chiang is ready to serve.

Yak-Thai wishes you bon appetit.
